Shady Grove Cemetery

Burials date to about 1845. Actor, television host, and entertainer Watson Davis, better known as "Sivad" (Davis spelled backward), is buried here. He was an advertising director for the Memphis-based Malco Theatre chain in 1963 when he first came up with his "Monster of Ceremonies" character for the WHBQ-TV weekly horror program "Fantastic Features."  The character became well-known through the Mid-South, and Savid made many personal appearances, drawing an estimated 30,000 fans at an appearance at the Mid-South Fairgrounds in 1963.
