Rockin’ Downtown Jonesboro Mural

This mural was painted in 2015 as the first artwork selected as part of the Downtown Jonesboro Alliance's art project.  The project began with an idea from a ninth grade student, Sean Roades, from the EAST program at Douglas MscArthur Junior High School.  The mural was painted by Jim Porterfield, selected through a competition. Porterfield said the downtown area itself was his source of inspiration for the piece--"the business owners and how it’s growing and evolving,” he said. “I wanted to have something that kind of represented the downtown, but was a little bit more New Orleans style looking."
