Pine Hill Cemetery
Established in 1859. Many Civil War veterans are buried in this cemetery, along with Aden Lynch (1813-1891), first mayor of Jonesboro (1859). Notable burials also include Bobby Lee Trammell (Jan. 31, 1934-Feb. 20, 2008), who was born in Jonesboro and became known nationally playing the "rockabilly" music that peaked in the late 1950s and early 1960s with performers such as Elvis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis. A talented musician, he recorded such notable hits as "Arkansas Twist"and "Shirley Lee," a song later covered by Ricky Nelson. In his later years, he was in the Arkansas legislature.
