Pickens Restaurant & Commissary

Restaurant is located inside the Pickens Commissary that once served plantation workers.  After placing orders at the counter, meals are served at tables in the middle of a room running every sort of business around its edges – grocery store, apparel shop, post office, and community center.  The restaurant offers up traditional Southern fare; daily plate lunches; and signature dishes including skillet fried potatoes and onions, squash dressing, fresh vegetables, chicken salad, fried catfish, and homemade desserts (coconut cream, chocolate, strawberry and pecan pies are all well worth the trip.)
