Delta Heritage Trail
When the Delta Heritage Trail is finished, it will stretch almost 84 miles through Southeast Arkansas. The southern terminus, which extends north for 28 miles, begins at Arkansas City and continues to Yancopin, with part of the trail leading to views of the Mississippi River. The northern terminus, which is 44 miles currently completed, is at Delta Heritage Trail State Park near Lexa. The Visitors Center, just south of Barton, has a gift shop, trail maps, restrooms, picnic sites, and bike rentals. This section of the trail currently ends at Snow Lake. The entire trail makes up the Delta Heritage State Park.
Passing through a diverse array of ecosystems, the trail is a great place for wildlife watching and birding. The trail passes through Delta farmland, small towns and settlements, and some of the most remote bottomland hardwood forests, offering a variety of breathtaking scenic views.
